Following on from his two popular books ‘The Fishing Boats and Ports of Cornwall’ and ‘The Fishing Boats and Ports of Devon’  Stewart Lenton was asked to write a booklet about the fishing boat registration system that coastal booksellers could offer to visitors who frequently asked the question that became its title ’What is the Meaning of the Letters and Numbers on Fishing Boats’?  This a small booklet with a long title and a modest price came into being which seemd to have 'hit the spot'. In the 16 pages Stewart outlines how the UK registration system came about and was modified to the present day. Included is a list of all UK registration ports and maps of their locations.
